NOVA Scribes Meetup :: The Basics of Lettering

Just in time for the new year, NOVA Scribes is a newly-organized meetup group for visiual practitioners in the Northern Virginia region.

Starting off a series of meetup offerings and perfect for the in-meeting sketchnoter or beginning graphic recorder, Heather Martinez will guide you in “The Basics of Lettering."

Starting with mental preparation, the anatomy of a marker tip, and body mechanics. Focusing on writing for legibility and speed, your natural style will emerge in this hands-on experience. Explore a variety of letterforms and apply them to titling your chart or creating emphasis on key ideas. Learn tips that will boost your self-confidence and expand your lettering vocabulary.

It's as easy as A-B-C! And lefties are welcome!

Please bring your sketchbook and favorite markers to practice with and to take notes. We will also work large at the wall. Paper and “community” markers will be provided. You can also purchase markers the night of the class.

Light refreshments will be provided. We also have beer on tap!

Heather Martinez is a graphic recorder/facilitator and part of the OGSystems Visioneering team. She presented the Basics of Lettering at the 2015 IFVP conference in Austin. This is the first in a series of lettering offerings for 2016.

We hope you will join us for this inaugural class for NOVA Scribes at OGSystems. To RSVP, please visit:
