So I'm new to the field and suddenly have TWO substantial graphic recording gigs scheduled for April and May. I need to get contracts written up and am wondering if there is a standard contract that people use? Or do I need to craft my own and if so, what are some of the important clauses/conditions that should be included?

I'm not an expert; relatively new myself (in the field nearly 3 years). I have done about a half-dozen considerable gigs, and I've always used my own contract. I used a version I purchased from Legal Zoom, which was pretty inexpensive and then I simply edited and revised it to suit my needs. It made the admin work simple, fairly quick and (as far as I required) pretty complete in legal terms and necessary content. Hope this helps.
