Perfect for the in-meeting sketchnoter, beginning or seasoned graphic recorder, Heather Martinez will guide you through select activities from “The Basics of Lettering and Beyond”—a combined class she has offered at the last two IFVP (International Forum of Visual Practitioners) conferences.
Starting with mental preparation, the anatomy of a marker tip, body mechanics—then focusing on writing for legibility and speed—your natural style will emerge in this hands-on experience. Explore a variety of letter-forms and apply them to titling your chart or creating emphasis on key ideas. Learn tips that will boost your self-confidence and expand your lettering vocabulary.
We will explore:
• The three levels of handwriting/lettering
• Lettering styles that can be created with Neuland markers: BigOne, No. 1, ArtMarker, and FineOnes
• Resources to help you stay motivated and focused on your lettering.
You will walk away with lettering tools and resources to inspire you in your lettering journey.
It's as easy as A-B-C! And lefties are welcome!
Please bring:
• Your sketchbook and
• Your favorite markers to practice with and to take notes.
We will also work large at the wall. Paper and “community” markers will be provided. You can also purchase Neuland markers the night of the class.
