ANNOUNCING: IFVP's Online Learning Series program!

You asked and we heard!

“I'm just starting out on my visual notetaking journey; I wanted a community that can help me grow my practice via resource-sharing, modeling, etc.”
“I want to always keep up with the latest in my field”.

When we surveyed the membership in 2019, we asked what members would like to see more of. One of the most common responses was frequent online learning sessions. When we asked what pain points members experienced that they’d like the IFVP to help with, skill building was one of the top three responses. When we asked why members joined the IFVP, the top  answers were connecting to the community (39%) and professional development and learning (27%).

This is why it is a pleasure for the IFVP board to announce the OLS program - Online Learning Series - a free-for-members learning opportunity to continue developing and polishing your skills. Join us for the live recording or watch the recording on the IFVP website at your leisure.

From March to November, each month, we will offer a FREE, live Zoom learning session with a curated group of well-known and successful Visual Practitioners sharing their knowledge and expertise so you can learn the skills and tricks you have always wanted to master.

How to design a visual template to support your workshop facilitation

You'll be presented with the 9 steps involved in designing a visual template that can support a workshop. An important aspect of this is knowing the purpose of the workshop, who's attending and what tangible results you'd like to have when it's over. This will be covered in the "design compass", a useful tool for planning and designing workshops.

Avril Orloff (Canada) and Heather Martinez (USA) - May 6 at 11AM PST
The ABCs of Chart Design

Learn to design your charts as you create them! In this workshop we'll look at the basics of design and how to balance the elements on the page to make your graphics flow. Topics will include (but not be limited to): composition, contrast, colour, white space, and (yes!) letters as a design element.

John Bloch (USA) - May 27 at 1PM EST
Art School for Facilitators: Making your Drawings More "Real"

For facilitators who didn’t attend art school, you’ll learn linear perspective, strategies for shading 3-D objects, and using shadows to express weight, location, motion and in creating visual metaphors.
