A special mahalo to Guido Neuland, for his never-ending help, support and great ideas over the last year.
Over 90 people from 13 countries traveled to Honolulu for ALOHA 2011, IFVP's 16th annual conference. Over our three days together, we explored what it means to be a visual thinker in today's environment and how that affects our business, our community, and ourselves.
Our minds were stretched by notable thinkers: David Sibbet, Kalani Parnell, Sunni Brown, Patrick van der Pijl, Lisa Kay Solomon, Donna McGeorge, Linda Colburn, and Rachel Smith. We re-connected and expanded our community over delicious Mai Tais, edge-of-your-seat slam poetry, breathtaking hula, and early morning dance parties. Our days were filled with inspiring colleagues who led breakout sessions that taught us how to grow our practices and add practical skills to our visual toolkits. We left with our bags full, our minds opened, and our mana exchanged.

IFVP heads to Hawaii in 2011, a destination chosen for its rich history of storytelling and lush tropical setting, to explore what it means to be a visual practitioner. Our work is hitting the mainstream as organizations, publishers, and our own social networks continue to discover the power of communicating in more creative and visual ways. As our world becomes more digital, interconnected, and global, business as usual is changing and visual thinking promises to become an even bigger phenomenon.
Our experience tells us that there’s no substitution for face-to-face interactions. IFVP’s 16th annual conference is the destination for visual practitioners to gather together to share the best of our craft, broaden our thinking, learn new skills, and expand and strengthen our community.
This year’s highlights includes:
